About

Born and raised in East Texas, Mary Button received a BFA in Photography and Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. She earned a Master of Theological Studies with a concentration in American religious history and Christian ethics from the Candler School of Theology at Emory University.

Her work has been exhibited across the United States and the United Kingdom, with exhibitions at the Museum of Biblical Art in New York City, the Church Center for the United Nations, Woman Made Gallery in Chicago, and Wesley House at Cambridge University, to name a few.

Mary has written curricula for Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America on a number of social justice issues and is a frequent contributor to Believe Out Loud. She is a candidate for ordination in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and pursuing an MDiv at United Lutheran Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.
