Today’s parish church musician is expected to do it all. The staff music professional must be able to conduct the various ensembles in the church, play the accompaniments, and make it all work together successfully in the context of the worship service. In addition to supporting the choirs, the director must also lead the congregation in enthusiastic hymn singing and prepare and play inspiring, excellent service music at the keyboard.
In this workshop, you will discover tips and best practices for doing all this successfully on a weekly basis while maintaining your sanity and (hopefully) allowing for some musical inspiration! Topics to be discussed include hymn playing, music selection, logistics, choir training, and console conducting techniques.
